Critique of TED videos

Now that you have an idea what goes into a good oral presentation, I would like you to view a TED video featuring renowned motivational speaker Anthony Robbins. If you like to find out more about him, please click here.

While watching the video, I would like you think about whether this is a good oral presentation and what makes it so.

After watching the video, I would like you to add a comment on:
a) 2 things which make it an effective oral presentation

Now I would like you to view another TED video featuring Clifford Stoll, an astronomer, educator and skeptic. Click here to find out more.

Again while watching the video, think about whether this is a good/bad video and what makes it so.

After watching the video, I would like you to:
b) Give 1 reason why you think this is a good/bad presentation
c) Suggest 1 thing which can be improved upon

  1. Engaging speaker - touching on issues that are familiar/audience can relate to

Body movement and tone of voice - natural sounding (not scripted),inject humour once in a while

  4. He enagages the audience and acknowledges them. His speech is energetic and he uses quite alot of body language thus the speech is not boring.

  11. He moves across the stage. This may be good and bad. Good in a way that it catches people's attention; bad in a way that it can be distracting sometimes ...

  12. Clifford Stoll: Very humorous, and kind of comical with his gestures and body language, but he can enagage his audience with that. The audience can probably be engrossed in his speech even after a long time as his speech is staged like a play.

  13. Its a good presentation because he's very animated.
One thing to improve on: presentation has to be structured.

  14. Hardly audible, talking too fast - not entirely sure what he's trying to convey

He seems to have a lot of enthusiasm but expression of it could be controlled? =P
